Education

When teachers across the country come together to protest the lack of investment in students, all eyes in Colorado were on Pueblo. The Pueblo teachers' strike brought to light the drastic underfunding of Rep. Esgar's community schools. She raised up the concerns that her hometown has about the disservice that low funding does to our children and educators, making sure that funds for education in the state trickle down to areas of southern Colorado.

Beyond that, she is chairing a bi-partisan exploratory committee on Alternatives to the Gallagher Amendment, a constitutional restraint that has caused school funding to stagnate across the state. Rep. Esgar has also been a proven advocate for teachers retirement program, PERA.
